PerkinElmer signs deal for Progenesis

PerkinElmer signs deal with Nonlinear Dynamics for global distribution rights to Progenesis - high-throughput image analysis software for Proteomics research

(Newcastle upon Tyne, UK & Boston, MA) Nonlinear Dynamics Ltd, a leading provider of bioinformatics solutions, announces that PerkinElmer Life Sciences has entered into a non-exclusive agreement to distribute Nonlinear's revolutionary new software for proteomics research.

The first automated system to address the bottleneck in 2D electrophoresis analysis, Progenesis is a "hands-free" automated system specifically designed for researchers with high-throughput requirements, and is an optimal software solution for integrated proteomics platforms. Progenesis will be incorporated into PerkinElmer's platform to accurately analyse data generated by the ProXPRESS™ proteomic imaging system.

In the post-genomic climate, understanding proteins is vital in identifying new drug targets. 2D electrophoresis, even after 25 years, is still the best protein separation technique available to scientists, although analysis of results has always presented a significant bottleneck in the research process. This combination of instrumentation and software will give researchers using 2D electrophoresis capabilities never before thought possible in terms of automation and robustness.
