Latest version of Phoretix™ 2D Advanced launched

Nonlinear Dynamics releases latest version of Phoretix™ 2D Advanced for flexible, in-depth 2D electrophoresis image analysis

(Newcastle upon Tyne, UK). Nonlinear Dynamics Ltd, a leading provider of bioinformatics solutions, announces the release in early September of version 6 of Phoretix™ 2D Advanced, designed and developed in response to the ever changing needs of scientists analysing 2D electrophoresis gels.

Researchers can have confidence in their 2D analyses using this in-depth and flexible software with its comprehensive editing facilities, easy-to-use interface and wide range of powerful visualisation tools. Version 6 includes several major new features offering even further benefits. For example, scientists are now able to find significant expression changes across a series of gels very quickly and easily using the new expression table, which shows fold changes between values on the current gel compared across all other gels.

Other new functions, such as error bars on histograms for averaged measurements enables automatic access to statistical information on differences across a gel series. Convenient generation of spot coordinates, in the form of a pick list, to drive an automated spot-picking robot is now possible with the introduction of a triangulation mode for coordinate mapping.

Accurate and reproducible spot detection remains as reliable as ever and a new algorithm, developed in collaboration with an industrial partner, shows that it is now possible to include customised algorithms in the software. Matching, another crucial element of 2D electrophoresis analysis has been improved to make the process quicker, easier and even more accurate.
