Nonlinear Dynamics expands presence in Europe with new distributor in France

7th November 2002, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK and Plaisir, France. Following recent expansion in the USA and the Far East, Nonlinear Dynamics reinforces its commitment to expanding business globally by announcing the appointment of a new European distributor to cover the French market. Aphelys is a leading reseller of instrumentation, reagents and software to the research and diagnostic markets and will distribute several of Nonlinear's image analysis and database software solutions throughout France.

After the UK and Germany, France is the third largest life science market in Europe and Nonlinear wants to establish strong brand recognition in this country for its industry-leading 1D, 2D and Array image analysis software. The products available for sale through Aphelys include Phoretix 2D for in-depth 2D electrophoresis studies; Phoretix 1D, a powerful analytical tool suited to all aspects of serious 1D electrophoresis research; and Phoretix Array offering the array image analysis market a superior level of performance and sophistication. In addition, TotalLab, developed from the Phoretix product range, is a suite of core image analysis tools with modules for 1D gel analysis, array/dot blot analysis, colony counting and various other general image analysis applications, making it an invaluable tool for the life science laboratory.

Pierre Chaumat, Alphelys President, said "Genomics has been strongly developing into research labs throughout France and Proteomics is now rapidly gaining pace as the natural "next step" in human genetics and drug research programs. It is clearly the right moment to be in the market to provide effective and consistent technologies, especially in 1D and 2D gel electrophoresis image analysis, in order to assist scientists in their ever accelerating and demanding projects. We are very proud to be in the position to provide the next-generation software solutions from Nonlinear Dynamics. This will bring to French scientists the premium tools to control perfectly the orientation of their research and help them to reach their goals rapidly."

John Spreadbury, Group Sales and Marketing Director, said, "As Nonlinear continues to grow we identified that France was an important market for us." He added, "We are delighted to be working with Alphelys due to their market presence and experience in the French life science arena. We see our partnership as a key business decision to strengthen Nonlinear's brand awareness in this territory and to offer French scientists the best image analysis software available."
