Nonlinear Dynamics launches TotalLab v2.0, software for 1D Electrophoresis, Array and Image Feature Analysis (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK) Nonlinear Dynamics Ltd strengthens its image analysis software range with the launch of TotalLab v2.0, a broad-based, high-functionality image analysis product. An essential tool for any Life Science laboratory, TotalLab analyzes 1D electrophoresis gels and Arrays, counts colonies, performs 2D spot measurement and analyzes other image features. Developed from the Phoretix product range, TotalLab incorporates a large number of routines and algorithms developed for the high-end 1D, 2D and array analysis products. Sitting at the core of TotalLab is the module for fully automatic analysis of 1D electrophoresis gels, perfect for a range of functions from molecular size determination to accurate quantitation of band material. The addition of a Quantity Calibration feature allows the user to accurately calibrate measured volumes to known values, also accounting for nonlinear staining effects. The Array module has been further enhanced to include fully automatic grid detection and background subtraction, and enables the quantitative analysis of dot and slot blots, microtiter plates and other basic arrays. With the addition of a new Toolbox module, which contains a range of general analysis tools ideal for quantitation on any object or image, TotalLab offers the complete image analysis solution for the Life Sciences. Bruce Venning, Nonlinear's Marketing Director commented, "TotalLab's success has meant that we have been able to incorporate more of the functionality from our Phoretix products, giving high power at a low cost to every scientist."
