Nonlinear Dynamics Release New Version of Progenesis (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK) Nonlinear Dynamics, a leading provider of bioinformatics solutions, announced the new release of its flagship product Progenesis which now incorporates Cross Stain Analysis Technology. Already the leading product in advanced 2D Proteomic image analysis, Progenesis looks set to remain at the forefront of 2DE software technology. Following its initial release in May 2001, Progenesis has established itself as the most sophisticated solution for enhanced 2D gel analysis. Global sales have risen vigorously over the last three years and this rate looks set to continue over the coming months. The evolving demands of proteomics research have seen numerous high profile institutions invest in the Progenesis platform from across a range of research sectors. Many major pharmaceutical organisations have invested in Progenesis, including AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer while biotechnology companies such as Genzyme and VTT Medical Biotechnology have also adopted the product. Similarly, the growing profile and demand of the proteomics research market has led to many core and commercial service laboratories adopting the Progenesis platform, including Charles River Proteomic Services, Proteomic Research Services, University of Texas Medical Branch, and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Dr James Jersey, President of Charles River Proteomic Services (Worcester, MA) said, "In our gel-based service offerings, we are dedicated to providing our clients with the highest quality data possible with the minimum turnaround time. Charles River Proteomic Services has the ability to rapidly and accurately process many complex samples in a highly automated fashion and provide objective, statistically based measures of significance through the application of a variety of statistical tools. As a result, the software must provide functionality enabling efficient review, visualization and mining of the large data sets. The Progenesis software meets this objective and provides an important competitive edge in the proteomic research market." The Progenesis software incorporates the latest technology to conduct objective 2DE research using statistically driven proteomics. Progenesis delivers a high level of automation providing advanced quality of data analysis, data-mining and support of lab based research. The latest enhancements to the product include new Cross Stain Analysis technology, allowing users to analyse multiplexed 2D gels containing an internal standard. Other innovative features include the unique Intelligent Noise Correction Algorithm (INCA) which controls the effect of image noise to drive accurate analysis. This feature, coupled with Data Quality Control (Data QC), provides the user with a statistical measure of whether changes in spots are significant compared to the overall quality of the gel. John Spreadbury, Group Sales and Marketing Director at Nonlinear Dynamics and CEO of Nonlinear Inc, said, "Proteomics research demands consistency, accuracy and reliability from analysis software. As a product, Progenesis delivers on all these counts. The new features and the integration of CSA technology in the updated Progenesis software builds on an already outstanding product and allows our users to remain at the forefront 2D analysis innovation."
