(Newcastle upon Tyne, UK) Nonlinear Dynamics Ltd, a leading global
provider of bioinformatics solutions, today announced that The Department
of Biology of the University of York has adopted Nonlinear's SameSpots
approach as part of their 2D proteomics workflow. Under the purchase
agreement, The Technology Facility within the Department of Biology
has licensed TT900 S2S and have upgraded their existing 2D analysis
software to Progenesis PG240 to support this new approach.
This purchase represents the latest key sale of products to enable
the SameSpots approach following its official release at US HUPO in
March. To date, over ten institutions across Europe and the US have
adopted SameSpots into their 2D workflow. This impressive uptake by
proteomics researchers reflects the significant benefits users can achieve
with SameSpots, including 100% matching across all images and no missing
values within the 2D data.
Dr Peter Ashton of The Technology Facility within the Department of
Biology at the University of York, said, "Since implementing the
SameSpots approach, the changes we have noted in our analysis have been
very encouraging. The ability to perfectly align images within the experiment
before applying SameSpots detection dramatically improves matching performance.
This enables highly consistent and reliable results to be obtained from
all our 2D data sets, even those that previous image analysis packages
were unable to accurately quantify."
Will Dracup, Group CEO of Nonlinear Dynamics, said, "The University
of York have been valued customers for some years now and we are pleased
to continue this relationship with their latest purchase. The statistical
power of the SameSpots approach enables users to instantly enhance their
2D data and overcome many existing gel processing issues to obtain highly
objective and accurate image analysis results."
