Attending a Workshop

Don’t get left behind…

You can keep up to date with the latest technology, SameSpots, which is creating new possibilities for proteomics research. You can find out more today by attending our workshops.

”2D gels that had previously taken me three weeks to analyze and quantify were completed at the workshop in less than 2 hours.”

Lynn Mclean, University of Liverpool

If you would like information about workshops or if you would like to host a workshop, please contact Juliet Evans.

Why would I attend a workshop?

  • You can book a hands-on analysis of your own images using SameSpots technology
  • You get your own evaluation copy of Progenesis SameSpots, which includes a free image quality control feature to keep for unlimited use on future experiments
  • You will participate in the exchange of scientific ideas
  • You will gain knowledge of the latest ideas and data analysis solutions to support proteomics research
  • You get an Information Centre CD. This contains evaluation software, application notes and technical support information which can help you achieve your research goals

What will happen?

Typically we start with a presentation on Understanding and addressing the challenges of differential expression analysis of proteomics data with a discussion at the end

Afterwards, we offer you a ‘hands-on’ workshop where you can bring along your 2D images for analysis using the latest technology.

Do I need to bring anything along?

If you’re bringing your own images along for analysis here is a guide to help you to get the best out of the workshop:

For 2D analysis using Progenesis SameSpots:

  1. Ideally your images should be 12-16 bit greyscale, 150-300dpi, 1000-1800 pixels in horizontal and vertical directions. But bring what you have and we can use our Image QC features to assess your images and offer solutions for optimising analysis

  2. Make sure your images are captured in the same orientation! But if not we can show you how the inbuilt image QC feature can be used to correct this.

  3. You can get good analysis results from 6-8 images to take away in the time we have, but please bring along more if you have them, SameSpots is fast! And we can always arrange a follow up to analyse a complete data set if necessary

What’s special about Nonlinear Dynamics’s Technology?

This is a radical new approach to the complementary techniques of 2D and LC-MS Expression analysis. Our image alignment technology generates significant increases in speed, objectivity and statistical power for both approaches.

What does this means for your 2D experiments?

A simplified workflow with no need for editing on the majority of experiments, so your analysis is fast and objective. With 100% matching there are no missing values so you gain a complete data set upon which to perform robust statistical tests. This means that you get more statistical power from your replicates compared to traditional approaches. Progenesis SameSpots has been rapidly adopted by many proteomics laboratories; see what they say here...

What does this mean for your LC-MS experiments?

You can take a new approach to LC-MS analysis.  Now you can perfectly align and compare multiple runs which differ in retention times, perform differential expression analysis to find the significant changes and then identify the real proteins and peptides of interest. You will also get greater statistical power from your replicates, which means you can find biomarkers with confidence. The LC-MS technology is in the final development phase and we are very keen to get feedback from experienced groups.
